Live From New York, An Unforgettable Show

Maya Rudolf gave the world an unforgettable show this past Saturday! She is the best host since Jimmy! I wish she never left SNL...

The cold open for those who know about Linsanity that is taking over New York. This sketch captured all of the Linsanity puns as well as the media's decision that it's ok to use Asian stereotypes. It turned out to be a great cold open, something we haven't seen in a while. The two black anchors run with the Asian jokes until Taran Killam's character makes a black joke and Kenan's and Jay's characters give him hell.

Watch Here:

I love when people sing in their monolouge! Maya serenaded with an original song, "Do You Want To Funk?" She sung while walking through the backstage where who else but STEFON appears!!

(It's not on youtube but you can find it on NBC.com)

When Maya was on Late Night Thursday and told Jimmy that Amy was going to be on the show I knew there had to be a Bronx Beat sketch!! What made it even better was a suprise appearence by Justin Timberlake!!!!!!!!!! Him and Andy played crew members who were guests. They turned the tables and bantered to Maya and Amy and said how much they loved them. No one can banter as well as Maya and
Amy but hey, they were pretty good!

Watch Here:

The Jay-Z and Beyonce's baby sketch was the best of the night by far! Everybody hit their impressions spot on. I loved when Brad and Angelina (Taran and Abby) tried to steal Baby Blue! The best part of the sketch was when Justin Timberlake as Bon Iver sang and then fell asleep and Maya said, "Oh no, Bon Iver sang himself to sleep." I couldn't stop laughing throughout this whole sketch!

(This sketch isn't on youtube but you should def find it because it is a must see)

Weekend Update was at its best because none other than Amy dropped by for "Really!?! With Seth & Amy! They discussed Congress's all male meeting to discuss birth control.

(Again, not on youtube)

The Super Money Showcase sketch made me laugh, not because of the content, but becaus Bill and Kristen were cracking up! They pulled a classic Jimmy. The sketch was Maya and Kristen talking in weird voices and doing weird things as showcase models.

(not on youtube. DAMN them!)

The Obama Show sketch was a a parody of The Cosby Show. Fred brought back his Barack Obama impression while Maya introduced her Michelle Obama impression.

(not on youtube)

Sleigh Bells was the musical guest. I thought they weren't good at all. You couldn't even hear what the lead singer was singing. If that's their style, well it's not for me.

Live From New York, An Adorkable New Girl

This past Saturday Night Live was hosted by the "New Girl" Zooey Deschanel. I love New Girl the show so I was excited for this episode. It turned out to be pretty good.

The only thing good about the cold open was the adorable golden retriever!!! Just watch it for him!! (Or her).

Watch Here:

The monolouge was sooo good! I love the song, it's catchy!

The longest running gag of the night was the talented Bill Hader as the motivational Clint Eastwood in that superbowl commercial for Crystler.

Weekend Update was saved by "Nick Cage" in the "In the Cage" segment. Non other than Nick Cage was the guest! What??? Well you are gonna have to find the vid to see what I mean cause I can't find it on youtube.

Fallon's Superbowl Special

This past Superbowl Sunday Jimmy Fallon hosted a live show from Indy and it was awesome!!! The opening number was almost as good and his Emmy opening! I can't get the song outta my head!!

Also featured was Superbowl Halftime auditions on The Voice and omg one word.....incredible! Everyone already knows how talented Jimmy is but this segment shows it well!!

Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg were the first guests and they obv were hilarious! I <3 Jimmy's "Sand Man" impression! The Superbowl 46 champs were on too!!! Go Giants!!! Well not the whole team but Justin Tuck, Osi U., and some white guy. Tucking is the new Tebowing!

Here's the lyrics and the opening number!!
There's a party,
It's about to start.
Indianapolis gets crazy after dark.
Follow me,
And I will take you there.
Go ahead, and stay up late,
Crack open a beer.
One more hour
That's all I ask of you.
The game might be over,
But that don't mean it's through.
There's a party,
It's about to start.
Indianapolis gets crazy after dark.
You saw commercials,
And you ate platefuls
Of Guacamole
While you watched the halftime show.
I know you're tired,
but I'm inspired,
So get your second wind.
You watched the Super Bowl (Saw commercials, ate guacamole)
Please don't go to sleep (Watched the halftime show, please don't go to sleep)
You gotta watch the show (Saw commercials, ate guacamole)
Right now
Or DVR it, at least! (Watched the halftime show, please don't go to sleep)
It's a live show
Who knows what's in store
The mayor of Indianapolis
Could walk right through the door.
Forget tomorrow, tonight we go
Berserk.
If you wake up hung over, just call
In sick to work.
(Time to start the show, Late Night Indy)
You watched the Super Bowl (It's almost time to go, please don't go to sleep)
It's time to start the show (Time to start the show, Late Night Indy)
Let's go, let's go (Let's go, let's go, let's go)
Let's go, let's go (Let's go, let's go, let's go)
(let's go, let's go, let's go)
You watched the Super Bowl
Please don't go to sleep
Let's kick it to the Roots
Right now
Won't you take it, Tariq?
[Rap]
Yeah, everybody still awake right
It feels like a great night for some Late Night
You gained weight kid, look at what you ate like
The game's over it's time to celebrate life
Where the action is, what's gonna happen is
The noise making is laughing, hand clapping is
Party from the Big Apple the main attraction is
Jimmy Fallon we live Indianapolis
You watched the Super Bowl (Late Night Indy, live on NBC)
Please don't go to sleep (Please don't go to sleep, It's a kick ass party)
It's time to start the show (Late Night Indy, live on NBC)
Right now (Please don't go to sleep, It's a kick ass party)
'Cuz we made it to Indy

You watched the Super Bowl (Late Night Indy, live on NBC)
Please don't go to sleep (Please don't go to sleep, It's a kick ass party)
It's time to start the show (Late Night Indy, live on NBC)
Right now (Please don't go to sleep, It's a kick ass party)
'Cuz we made it, made it, to Indy
Now that you have the lyrics, watch the video and sing along!

Live From New York, A Double Hosted Episode

When I found out that Channing Tatum was going to be hosting SNL for the first time, I thought that he had the potential to be “a Justin Timberlake” when it came to hosting. Channing was a decent host but I thought they didn’t use him to his full potential. Basically, the writing sucked (well besides all the dancing scenes!). I felt like Bobby Moynihan was the host. He had more airtime than the entire cast combined! Oh and I just learned that Paul Brittain left the show...I didn’t notice at all…that tells a lot. Honestly, I won’t miss him at all. His recurring sex educator sketch got old quickly and his Lord Wyndemere character was dumb (idk why people think it’s funny).

The cold open was basically about a colony on the moon ruled by Newt Gingrich played by Bobby Moynihan. It was a good concept but wasn’t executed well by the cast. When Bobby takes center stage he usually goes all out but he came across as dull. I loved the ending…”My divorce be with you.”

The monologue was good, with Channing noticing former clients of his (he used to be a stripper…ohhh yeah!) in the audience. The best was Leslie played by Fred, who “died happily” at the end when Channing started to dance.
Watch Here:

The It’s Getting Freaking With Cee Lo Green sketch featured Channing as Matthew McConaughey basically in “Dazed and Confused”. Props to him, it was spot on! Oh and I forgot, he shaked his bongos!!

The last sketch of the night, Bongo’s Clown Room, was wayyyyyyy to long! Jason’s drawn out, dull jokes were accompanied by a midget on Taran Killam’s stomach, Nick Erswet (it makes sense when you say it quickly), and Channing in his element.
Watch Here:

The musical guest, Bon Iver was ok. I’m not into that type of music, so I used it as a bathroom break. The parts that I did watch, I couldn’t understand most of the words the lead singer was singing!

Weekend Update wasn’t that good but did feature again Bobby Moynihan as Guy Fieri (I gotta get that NY/New England multi-layer dip minus the two lobsters that don’t like each other). The best part of Weekend Update was Kristen Wigg’s impression of Lana Del Ray. She was the musical guest last episode and sucked! Anyways, Kristen was spot on, touching herself awkwardly and saying, “I'm stiff, distant and weak. It's my thing. And she was also right when she said, "Based on the public's response, I must have instead clubbed a baby seal while singing the Taliban national anthem.”

Watch Here:

Rebecca’s Bat Mitzvah scored with Tatum’s sexy dancing and Elliot’s skanky older sister. If I was given one wish last night, it would be to be Nasim in this sketch.

The Go-Tech Flex commercial was a good laugh. Tatum’s energy put it over the top. After I write this review I’m ordering one…I want those shorts!!
Watch Here:

The Tom Brady in Ruby Tuesday sketch was about Bobby’s Moynihan’s female “flesh cube” hitting on the Tom Brady the night before the Super Bowl. Moynihan carried the entire sketch while Channing took a back seat.
